Hopefully, you've read the article:

If so, are you thoroughly disgusted?  I am.  When I read "And that's the secret to politics:  trying to control a segment of people without those people recognizing that you're trying to control them," I wanted to shout "And you're supposed to be one of the GOOD GUYS!"

That's when I decided that we can't just sit back and take this.  We know that the Tea Party was a victorious power in the 2010 elections.  That's why the Main Stream Media (MSM) attacks us.  When I review my sources each day to update our web site, there's no problem finding at least one article about the Tea Party.  If we were not an influence, they'd never mention us.

But we don't need and shouldn't be attacked by our fellow Conservatives in the Republican Party.  They are, of course, protecting their turf, and we're rocking the boat.  They are the "establishment" that we hear so much about.  They've been running things, getting favors, and making big bucks from the guys that they elect with their donations and our votes.  But all of a sudden, they have these new guys in Congress who won't play the game.  Instead of loving the "opportunities" that are offered to them when they hit D.C., they say "This is not what I'd want to be doing, but I've got to do it for the country."  GOD BLESS THEM!

We NEED and we must do everything we can to ELECT more of them.  We're pretty sure to get a Republican President in 2012 if all goes well, but what we really need to turn things around is a majority in Congress, a majority in the Senate, and if at all possible, we need to get a handle on things here in California.  That's OUR JOB.

  • First of all, we must, whenever possible, support the "good guys" that we already have in office.  They are taking the flack and political pressure from their peers.  They must know that when it is time for their re-election, we'll get behind them 100% with our mouths, our money, and our momentum.
  • Next, we must load Congress with additional "good guys."  There is power in numbers.  Perhaps it is true that "He who controls the gold, makes the rules," but that is only because that gold buys votes, in this case.  We represent the votes, and thanks to mass communication, it no longer takes gold to reach and influence the voters, it just takes organization and dedication.
  • Also, we need to be constantly aware of what is taking place in our cities, counties, and state government.

Are you willing to do that?  If so, read on.  If not, go back to the couch or the Mall, and hope for the best.

Governor Daniels got it right when he said ". . . the Tea Party movement, like all effective popular movements, had an effect far beyond the proportion of its actual numbers.  'I wouldn't minimize for a minute their importance.'"

We are important!  The reason we are important is that we are going to give the power to good guys to take to our state legislatures and nation's capitol.  I was reading a four-part report the other day written by a Tea Party member who was disappointed in her group after attending several meetings because she went away asking "But what are we doing to help our Republic?"  We must be active.

Every member of a Tea Party group should perform something to be of service.  Here are a few suggestions:

  1. Read the day's new web site articles and give each one either a thumbs up or a thumbs down.  This may take from 15 to 30 minutes.  Hardly a big sacrifice.  (I really like this one.)
  2. Attend every General Meeting and offer to do something to be of help like bring some cookies or make the coffee or sign people in or greet people at the door or get their ahead of time to help get "stuff" on the tables.
  3. Be someone who responds to requests to phone or write to our representatives regarding legislation.
  4. Attend hearings at the Capitol -- you'll learn a lot.  Attend city council meetings.
  5. Read relevant books and write a brief report to be forwarded to members.
  6. If you are fortunate enough to have a good Tea Party type representative, attend every Town Hall or other meeting to support them.
  7. Donate, donate, donate your time and your money.  It doesn't have to be a lot of either one, but a little bit from a lot of people can really make that boat rock.
  8. Go to Seminars, Conferences and other appropriate group meetings or rallies.
  9. Whatever you do to be productive, enjoy it.  Know that it is very important.  We are so very fortunate to have the time and the resources that allow us to make a difference.

Our power is in our numbers.  When a speaker walks in the door and sees 100 or more people at the meeting, they know they have not wasted their time.  When you attend a Town Hall Meeting or a campaign event or a rally, know that you are recognized as a force to be listened to.  If we want to make a difference, we have to make an effort.
